Abstract: During recent decades, there have been marked changes in the business models, work/production organisation patterns and the policy framework that govern the media economy. All these changes have inter alia intensified the job insecurities of journalists. In this broader context, based on the findings of an ongoing research, some of the insecurities and vulnerabilities of workforce in India’s media economy will be discussed. The central themes that will be addressed include: deteriorating terms of work; informalisation of journalism; decline in legal protection and welfare measures; and growing representation-insecurities.
