The Ministry of Education, Government of India, funds a program titled  Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) that is aimed at tapping the international talent pool of eminent faculty members, scientists and entrepreneurs and to encourage their engagement with the institutes of Higher Education in India so as to augment the country's existing academic resources, accelerate the pace of quality reform, and elevate India's scientific and technological capacity to global excellence.

Since its inception in 2016, GIAN-JNU has conducted over 35 Courses.

Please note that GIAN Phase-4 calls are open now. Please visit https://jnu.ac.in/gian for more information.

In brief, 8000 US dollars (for 12-14 lecture hours in 5 day duration) and 12000 US dollars (24-28 hours in 10 day duration) will be paid for each course to support (i) travel and honorarium for the foreign faculty (ii) honorarium for the host faculty (iii) video recording (iv) incidental/contingency expenses.

Attached, please find necessary documents for submitting a GIAN proposal. Please send an e-mail to gian@jnu.ac.in so that a proposal upload link can be sent to you. Note that GIAN courses with integrated MOOC component will have higher priority towards acceptance, but it is not mandatory to have a MOOC component.

It is better that proposals from JNU are submitted within three weeks. Colleagues who submitted a proposal in 2019 (that were not sent for review due to the pandemic) may please resubmit the proposal with updated consent letter from the foreign faculty.
