From Physical Organic to Materials Chemistry: A Small Tour

<strong>Seminar of the School of Physical Sciences -------------------------------------------------</strong> <strong>Title: From Physical Organic to Materials Chemistry: A Small Tour</strong> <strong>Speaker: Anandarup Goswami</strong> (Palacky University, Olomouc) <strong>Date: January 13, 2016 (Wednesday)</strong> <strong>Abstract: </strong>This presentation will be divided into two parts focusing on works that the speaker was involved in his Ph.D. and Postdoctoral study at Cornell and Rutgers University. In the first part, the determination of the solution structure of organolithium species using method of continuous variation will be discussed with specific relevance to O-Lithiated species in different solvents [1]. The second part includes the synthesis and functionalization of different nanomaterials (silica, carbon, metal, metal-oxide-based nanosystems etc.) and their applications in heterogeneous catalysis and electrocatalysis [2].
