<strong>Centre for Historical Studies School of Social Sciences</strong> a Lecture <strong>"The Life and Works of Al-Biruni Filtered through the Prefaces of His Major Works"</strong> <strong>Dr. Mario Kozah</strong> American University of Beirut <strong>20th January 2016</strong> This talk was to introduce major stations in al-Biruni's life and works through a bio-bibliographical analysis of the prefaces of a number of his major works: Questions and Answers; The Chronology; The India; and The Masudic Canon. Dr. Mario Kozah is Assistant Professor of Syriac and Islamic Studies at the American University of Beirut. He holds a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in Oriental Studies from the University of Cambridge, England. He has published extensively on comparative religion and literature including most recently: The Syriac Writers of Qatar in the Seventh Century (Gorgias Press, 2014), An Anthology of Syriac Writers from Qatar in the Seventh Century (Gorgias Press, 2015) and The Birth of Indology as an Islamic Science (Brill, 2016).
